About the Work

The Popper moves the whole street. At the corner of East 180th Street, a dancer in a yellow shirt stretches across the intersection, boombox at his feet, caught between one hit and the next. The work honors popping and the dancers who turned the sidewalk into a stage and precision into style.

Music is more than sound.
It’s a bridge to a brighter tomorrow.
